It will be a different team come October, however shero has done what he said he do and that was keeping the core together. Malkin, Fluery, and Orpik have all gotten long-term deals, and we may even see Jordan Staal re-signed by the beginning of the season. Pascal Dupis (3 Years)and Mark Eaton (2 years) and Coach Michael Therrien has been re-signed also, 3 more years with the Penguins.
The core is intact but we had some players on the move and the most notable were Ryan Malone to Tampa, Gary Roberts to Tampa, Adam Hall to Tampa, Marian Hossa to Detroit, Ty Conklin to Detroit, George Laraque to Montreal, Jarkko Ruutu to Ottawa.
Shero added plenty of talent to replace all that was lost in the 07-08 offseason. Miroslav Satan and Ruslan Fedotenko from NY Islanders, Matt Cooke from Washington, Eric Godard from Calgary, and probably the most anticipated signing Janne Peasonen from Finland. Janne has been tearing up the Finland league and we signed him to a 1 year, 2 way contract, we all hope that he can adapt to the small rink and more physical NHL.
Pinch yourself, yes the pens lost game 4 at home. I woke up this mourning and thought it all was a bad dream, it wasn't. You can't blame anyone but the penguins, they blew a perfect opportunity to tie the game at 2 on the 5-3. The pens couldn't get it done and not scoring on that powerplay just killed any attempt at a come back.
Osgood was a rock all night
Game 5 is upon us on monday and winning 3 straight against the Red Wings is going to near impossible. However, as we all know you can NEVER count the Penguins out, they have proven us wrong before. Don't deny that we all done it thought the year, period three pens down by 3, you turn it off and go to bed. The next mourning, to your surprise, the pens came back and won. I know this is a bit different but, it's a sinking ship I'm in it till the very end!! LETS GO PENS!!!
We all know that Free Candy is going to pass out tonight at the igloo here is a clip of some candy that got passed on in game 3:
Holstrom is still undecided (as of 5:30 et may 31) if he will play tonight, whatever he decides to do S.S. Gill will be waiting. Regardless the Pens have not lost a game at the igloo in some time and why start now, all they needed to do was get that momentum and they did in game 3 so hopefully we can win 4 and car that momentum to Detroit win a game there and come home and wrap up the quest for the cup at the igloo in game 6.
